Venue Hire, Corporate Event and Cancellation Information
By booking on any of our courses, events or hiring the school you agree to abide by our terms and conditions.
Payment is to be made at the time of booking. We do not take provisional bookings and your place on a course will be confirmed once full payment is received or a voucher redeemed. For Corporate events a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure the date with the balance of payment made two weeks prior to the event.
We grade our courses accordingly to levels of skill needed and pace of the day. A single whisk symbol denotes a gentler session with up to three whisks meaning that you should be comfortable in the kitchen and happy to work at pace. If you are unsure as to your skill requirements for a course, please phone us so we can help ascertain your level of experience before booking. We rely on guests being able to self-assess their own skill level and are happy to assist with this. However the main aim of the day is to learn new skills and enjoy the session and our tutors will endeavour to facilitate this.
Health & Safety:
We will send out joining instructions with guidance approximately one week prior to your session. All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes we may be unable to admit you to the cookery school without proper footwear. Aprons will be provided but we recommend wearing sensible clothing i.e. not expensive as we are not liable for any damage that occurs to it. Long hair must be tied back in the kitchen and jewellery avoided. There will be a short briefing on the day and pertinent health and food safety points will be covered on the day as part of the course.
Please notify us of any dietary requirements or allergies at the time of booking so that we can accommodate them. We are unable to tailor our course content for special dietary requirements unless it is a private booking and the content is discussed prior to the day.
Cancellation policy; just in case something happens: -
If your circumstances change and you are no longer able to attend the course you booked on, please let us know as soon as possible. The booking is non-refundable but we can offer you a few options: -
- Up to 30 days’ notice from before the date of the course, we can transfer your booking onto another class of your choice.
- Less than 30 days of the course date, you are welcome to send somebody else in your place but please notify us.
Alternatively if there is a waiting list for the course we will offer your place to somebody on the list, in which case you will be able to book on another course within the next 60 days. If we are unable to do this, your booking will be made void with no possibility to attend another course.
These terms and conditions also relate to unfortunate cases of bad weather, sickness, grievance or accidental injury.
Buying a gift voucher gives the recipient access to a course or event at the school equivalent to the voucher value for 12 months following the date of purchase. The recipient can also ‘top up’ the voucher to attend additional course/s of their choice.
We recommend that the recipient checks our website, social media and newsletter and books as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. Booking and attending a course using a voucher has to be within the 12 month validity period. If the recipient makes no attempt to book on a session or can’t attend any of our courses, the voucher is not refundable. However, they can pass it on to somebody else to attend in their place within the validity period.
These terms and conditions also relate to unfortunate cases of bad weather, sickness, grievance or accidental injury. Once you have booked on a cookery course using a voucher, your booking will come under the above mentioned 30 day cancellation policy from the original booking date.
If at any point we are unable to run a course we will let you know as soon as we can. We will close the bookings for that particular course and offer you an alternative date or send you a gift voucher on a similar course valid for 6 months. We will not be held responsible for any other costs and expenses and we will not be able to refund you.
Harthill Cookery School accepts no liability of whatever nature arising as a result of any representations, breach of contract, late delivery of product, negligence or otherwise including but not limited to any liability for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profits, revenue, business or goodwill except for liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. All conditions, warranties, guarantees and representations, expressed or implied, by statute, common law or otherwise in relation to the goods (other than any liability which Harthill Cookery School is not permitted by law to exclude or restrict) are hereby excluded.
