For St.George and England! Once more to the BBQ

We barbecue and smoke all year at the school – but St. George’s day seems to be the perfect day to rally round and stoke up our Weber grills.

If you have ever wondered what you could really do on your grill here’s your chance to get some ideas and top tips before the height of the season. We’ll be smoking salmon over oak and serving it with potato cakes followed by an onion and cider soup with thyme and apple flat breads. Meanwhile the rib of beef will be roasting and we’ll make toad in the hole and roast potatoes to go with smoked creamed cabbage. All cooked on the barbecues.

Along the way you’ll learn tricks for easy lighting, how to control heat, direct and indirect cooking, how and when to add smoke and be able to compare charcoal to gas. As we cook we’ll work out way through eating each of the four courses...tough workso we may need a beer or three to help!!

To finish off with we’ll indulge in a sticky toffee pudding and toffee sauce again from the barbecue.

Price: £160.00 including all ingredients, tea, coffee, refreshments and lunch. Equipment and aprons are provided for the day.

In the spirit of al fresco cooking and to maximise learning and enjoyment of the session, BBQ courses are a combination of demonstrations, discussions, group and individual work. They are held in the kitchen and on the outside terrace (under cover if necessary) so please keep a watch on the weather and dress accordingly.
